Astronomy Science Center is the reflection of the high level of space and astronomy level in Saudi Arabia. It is an entertainment and educational hub opens for public to explore and be educated more about the universe and its impact on science and technology development.
This project is divided into two separate areas. The first area is open to public and it will include astronomy museum, planetarium and library along with cafes, sitting area indoor and outdoor. The second area will be private authorized area for researches which include labs, offices, control rooms for observatories and astronemers.
The design was basically creating a piece of art that is inspired from the dynamic movement of stars and planets in galaxies around centeral point. The design will utilize the presence of sunken courtyards which will work as a natural cooling ventilating areas and green outdoor plazas and create radial function placement which is idle for museum walking experience.
The building structure is a compenation of two types of structure: columns and beams and space frame.12X12m columns spacing was install on the museum and public areas while the research center spacing was 6X6m. The space frame sturcture was used in the suspended connection between the two buildings and in the tower structure.
